The Future of Workforce Identity Security.
How a modular, flexible approach to cloud-first identity and access management underpins the aspirations of global infrastructure innovation
Bentley planned a strategic investment that would give them a cloud-based identity layer, expediting digital infrastructure applications to market, and advancing their commitment to open and extensible infrastructure digital twin technology.
It needed to be standards-based, support evolving compliance and data residency requirements, provide always-on access reliably, and integrate across desktop, cloud, server and back-office systems.
Bentley Systems chose the cloud route over SaaS, favouring the flexibility around data residency to satisfy client demands in Europe and Asia-Pacific. After a comprehensive vendor evaluation, they selected the Ping Intelligent Identity platform, deploying PingFederate, PingAccess, PingDirectory, PingID and PingDataGovernance, all hosted and managed by ProofID.
The solution’s modular capabilities gave Bentley the flexibility to customize requirements, including mimicking the legacy environment in order to maintain continuity for existing users. Through the deployment of an open standards-based, cloud-first identity solution, over 1000 applications were migrated.
Bentley Systems was able to move its entire identity and access management (IAM) system to the cloud successfully. This gave them a flexible identity layer, covering all Bentley’s applications, including new products, services and acquisitions.
By investing in a vendor identity solution, Bentley has been able to centrally protect all resources at scale, whether web, mobile and API. And the knock-on benefit for the business is that the reduced admin burden means engineers can focus their time and resources on furthering their infrastructure engineering software.
